Urupe Lamp

Project: Ricardo Bianco

The Urupe lamp was born from the pursuit of indirect, atmospheric light. In the initial tests of form and material, inspiration arose for its organic silhouette - a subtle nod to the mushrooms that sprout in the damp forests of the Mantiqueira Mountains. Its name comes from “Urupe,” an indigenous word referring to fungi and natural bodies in transformation.

Its amorphous and lightweight shape creates a sculptural presence in the space. Light softly emanates from the lower part of the piece, bathing the environment in warm, indirect illumination. A discreet slit at the center of the lamp allows a small beam of light to pass through, revealing its delicate structure and emphasizing the contrast between light and shadow.

The result is a piece with a contemporary character yet an ethereal, almost floating aesthetic - capable of subtly and poetically transforming the surrounding space.
